How To Analyze Your Instagram Posts – View Your Insights and Learn How to Become a Social Media Influencer

You’re probably reading this because you saw my Instagram story. I showed my insights for the embarrassing video I posted yesterday, and a number of people decided it was worth saving for some reason. Let’s just say, I wouldn’t consider myself a dancer, but I do appreciate good music.

In this post, I will not only show you how to see these insights for your Instagram, but I will also educate you on how to use this information to gain more followers, likes and comments for your future posts. I will provide some tips on how to become an Instagram influencer and how to generate organic followers.

The first step to seeing your insights is to set up a business profile on Instagram. In order to do this, you need to have a Facebook Fan Page. After you have your fan page, go to your Instagram profile and click on the settings icon on the top right

Next, scroll down and click ‘Switch to Business Profile,’ then follow the steps to connect your Facebook Fan Page to Instagram.

Once that’s done, you will be able to see statistics for each new post. Click on ‘View Statistics’ under your post and you will see the following screen: 

          

Impressions: The total number of times your post has been seen

Reach: The number of unique accounts who saw your post

Engagement:The number of unique accounts that liked, saved or commented on your post

Saved: The number of unique accounts that saved your posts

 

What can I do with this information?

  • You’ll get to know your audience
    • Find out what kind of posts your audience likes by seeing how many people saved each post
  • Find out which posts are doing well and ask yourself why
    • “Why did my selfie get 1070 ‘likes’ while the picture of my dog only got 200 ‘likes’?”
      • If this is an ongoing trend, think about incorporating more selfies instead of dog pictures because this is what your audience wants
    • Take note of the time you posted this photo
      • The business profile will also give you information about when your followers are most active, but it’s also good to keep track of when you post so you can see what time works best for you
    • Keep track of the hashtags you use
      • Find out which hashtags are working for you. If your post appears in the ‘Top Posts’ area of the hashtag, it’s a great idea to keep using that hashtag
